To create these pieces, I chose sites and still lives containing common objects which are like those that are the focus of so many traditional paintings. Then, at a specific time of day, I trace the light and shadows falling on the objects and surrounding space. Next, I paint on the objects and the space they occupy in order to record how the light fell. Both photography and painting are mediums artists use to represent reality. This project attempts to comment on their similarities and differences.
